PROGRAMS

Throughout the year, Polycarpe offers free programs and events to the greater Orlando community. These unique spaces are designed for adults, children, and teens to expand their mental health education and awareness.

Polycarpe Positive Parenting Program
This program gifts parents with an extensive education in effective and researched based parenting philosophies. Topics such as creating home guidelines, navigating family conflict, building family unity, and using different forms of discipline are covered in the program. Exploring these different dimensions of parenting allows parents to gain new perspectives and techniques for raising their families. In turn, parental expectations become healthier and clearer, while youth grow in having a cooperative posture towards those expectations. All of which results in relationships between parents and youth becoming more rooted in closeness and trust.

Keys to Happiness Program
Keys to Happiness is a program designed to help youth fulfill their greatest potential. Experiential modules with themes such as contemplation, personal responsibility, and overcoming challenges are weaved throughout the event. Youth are given tools for how to navigate life in a way that could foster happiness and success. Youth are led through guided questions to help them enter into deeper self awareness and reflection of who they are and what unique gifts they have to offer the world around them. This process helps to evoke the dreams, passions, and hopes that they carry for their future. In the closing time, we coach youth in creating goals and strategic plans to take action steps.

Project TALK

Project TALK is Polycarpe’s event and acronym for “Think, Act, Live Kindly.” Each year, this event creates space for families to be equipped to engage an ongoing dialogue about preventing and responding to verbal bullying among youth. Research reveals the pervasiveness of verbal bullying spanning from school settings, neighborhood parks to social media platforms. When a child experiences bullying, they begin to embody significant impacts, such as fear, anxiety, PTSD, disruption in sleeping and eating, as well as substance abuse as a coping mechanism. Project TALK’s strategic tools make it possible for parents and their youth to be released from a state of unawareness, helplessness and shame in order to enter a place of empowerment. This program focuses on youth from elementary school ages to high school ages.

 Celebrate Youth Program
One of Polycarpe’s proudest moments is our annual Celebrate Youth event! This celebration gathers the community and families together to honor our kids diagnosed with mental health challenges. We recognize their hard work in the midst of their personal obstacles, as well as rewarding them for their spectacular progress. Dedicated awards are given to kids who have improved their academic standing and social skills over the course of a year. This annual banquet is held at the Winter Park University Club, treating families to a night of fanfare and entertainment. We also give our “Forever Young Award” to an adult who has championed our youth to succeed in the community.

Emotional Health Jam (Smiles & Laughter)
In celebration of Mental Health, we host an annual family event at the park. For this awareness event, we have music, game stations, vendor tables, food and beverage options. The main highlight is a Rock Climbing Wall. This challenge is a metaphor for overcoming challenges. It serves as a great educational tool for families to learn how to identify, manage, and discuss their emotions together.
